Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about tutoring, subjects, exam boards, scheduling, and getting started with BTX Educators.
Getting Started
How does online tutoring with BTX Educators work?
You book a free consultation, we match you with a tutor based on subject, exam board, and level, then sessions run live online with real-time whiteboarding and screen sharing, all managed through our learning platform.
What subjects and levels do you cover?
BTX Educators covers Mathematics, English, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science), full UK homeschooling, Islamic Education (Quran, Tajweed, Arabic), and Adult Education, for students aged 4–16 plus adult learners.
Do you offer a free trial or consultation?
Yes. New students can book a free introductory consultation and trial lesson to discuss goals, current level, and exam board before committing to a tutoring or homeschooling plan.
Can my child join mid-year?
Yes. Students can enrol throughout the academic year depending on tutor and timetable availability — we'll build a timetable around wherever your child currently is in their learning.
What ages do you teach?
BTX Educators teaches students aged 4 to 16 years across all academic and homeschooling programs, with separate Adult Education courses available for parents and older learners.
Homeschooling
What is homeschooling with BTX Educators?
Homeschooling with BTX Educators is a parent-led educational approach where your child learns from home using a fully structured British curriculum, delivered through live daily lessons with qualified teachers and tracked on our learning platform.
Is homeschooling legal in the UK?
Yes. Parents in the UK have the legal right to educate their children at home, provided they receive a suitable full-time education — our full homeschooling program is built to meet that standard with a structured timetable, assessments, and reporting.
Which curriculum do you follow?
BTX Educators follows the British National Curriculum, with lessons mapped to Edexcel and AQA exam board specifications, and Cambridge International available as an optional pathway.
Which countries do you teach students in?
We teach students in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Australia, Pakistan, and anywhere else with a stable internet connection.
Will my child receive certificates and reports?
Yes. Homeschooling and tutoring students receive term reports, achievement certificates, and progress reports, all generated and stored on our learning platform so parents can view them at any time.
Who books GCSE examinations for homeschooled students?
Parents register their child with an approved private examination centre for GCSE and IGCSE sitting; our tutors prepare students fully for the specification but do not book the exam centre on a family's behalf.
Are lessons recorded?
No. To keep classes interactive and focused, enrolled students are expected to attend live lessons rather than relying on recordings — this mirrors the structure of a real classroom and keeps engagement high.
Do you provide homework?
Yes. Homework is assigned after every lesson and appears automatically in the student and parent dashboard on our learning platform, along with a due date and completion status.
Tutors & Teaching
How are BTX Educators tutors selected?
Every tutor is vetted for subject-matter qualifications, teaching experience, and familiarity with specific exam board specifications — many are former examiners or subject specialists with postgraduate teaching qualifications, and all complete safeguarding training before teaching.
Can I choose or change my tutor?
Yes. You can browse tutor profiles and request a specific tutor, and if a pairing isn't the right fit, we'll match you with an alternative at no extra cost.
Are sessions one-to-one or group-based?
It depends on your package. BTX Educators offers both one-to-one tutoring for personalised, pace-matched instruction, and small group classes of 3–8 students for a more collaborative and affordable learning environment.
Can I book just one subject, or does it have to be a full package?
Both options are available. Full homeschooling requires the complete timetable package to meet suitable-education requirements, but standalone academic tutoring, Islamic Education, and Adult Education can be booked as single subjects.
Exam Boards & Curriculum
Which exam boards do you teach to?
Our tutors teach to AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge International, and the IB Diploma Programme, tailoring sessions to each student's exact specification and mark scheme.
Do you help with SAT and university entrance preparation?
Yes, BTX Educators provides SAT preparation and broader university-entrance exam support, including past-paper technique and timed practice.
Do you offer Islamic Education alongside academics?
Yes. Quran reading, Tajweed, Hifz (memorisation) support, Arabic language, and Islamic Studies can be booked alongside academic tutoring or homeschooling, or as standalone classes, taught with the same structured reporting as our core curriculum.
Logistics & Scheduling
How many classes are scheduled per week?
Most tutoring and homeschooling packages are built around 4 classes per week per subject as a starting point, though this is adjusted to match each student's specific plan and package.
What time zones do you accommodate?
BTX Educators works with students worldwide and schedules live sessions to fit each student's local time zone.
What platform are sessions held on?
Live sessions run through a real-time online classroom with whiteboarding, screen annotation, and document sharing, while homework, timetables, attendance, and reports are all managed through our dedicated learning platform — accessible from any device with an internet connection.
What happens if my child misses a class?
Let your tutor or our support team know in advance where possible. Because lessons aren't recorded, missed classes are typically rescheduled or covered with a short catch-up note in the learning platform so your child doesn't fall behind — contact us to arrange the specifics for your plan.
How do I reschedule or cancel a session?
Sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled through your student account with reasonable notice — contact your tutor or our support team directly for adjustments.
Assessment & Parent Updates
How are students assessed?
Students are assessed through regular in-lesson checks, weekly homework review, and structured periodic assessments, with results, attendance, and topic mastery all logged automatically in the parent and student dashboard on our learning platform.
Do tutors provide homework?
Yes. Homework is assigned after every lesson and tracked through the learning platform, so parents can see what's been set and whether it's been completed.
How are parents updated on progress?
Parents get real-time visibility through our learning platform dashboard — attendance, homework status, and topic progress update as lessons happen — plus formal term reports and achievement certificates issued at regular intervals, so there's never a surprise at report time.
Pricing & Enrolment
How much does tutoring cost?
Pricing depends on subject, level, session frequency, and whether you choose one-to-one, small group, or full homeschooling. Contact our team for a personalised quote based on your student's specific needs and goals.
Is there a minimum commitment period?
Tutoring plans run on a monthly cycle with no long-term contract required — you can adjust frequency or pause sessions as needed around school terms and exam periods. Note that fees are not refunded once a monthly cycle has started.
